Stacy Alesi graduated with her MLIS in August 2011 and started her first librarian position in October 2011 at the West Boca Branch Library of the Palm Beach County Library System as a Librarian I in Reference. She was inducted into Beta Phi Mu in November 2011. Staci received the Golden Palm Award from Palm Beach County, Florida in November 2011 for bringing authors for the Writers LIVE! series to the Palm Beach County Library System and presented a workshop, Readers Advisory in the Real World, for SEFLIN (Southeast Florida Library Information Network) at the Glades Road Branch Library, Boca Raton, FL in September. Due to popular demand, she will be repeating the workshop at the Gardens Branch Library in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on March 29, 2012.
Maureen Barry's article, "Librarians as Partners in Service-Learning Courses (Part I)," was just published in LOEX Quarterly. She will also be co-presenting "InfoPOWer: Super Librarians to the rescue during the transition to college" at the National First Year Experience Conference in February 2012 in San Antonio, Texas.
Sarah Gilchrist recently published an article on open access mandates, "A Review of Open Access Self-Archiving Mandate Policies," in portal with colleagues in her SLIS program and Dr. Jingfeng Xia. She graduated in December from the School of Library and Information Science at Indiana University in Indianapolis and was named Chancellor's Scholar.
Lisa Guidarini will be on the judging panel for the 2012 IPPY Independent Publisher Book Awards.
