We tried to contact Virginia Sanchez, but were unable to reach her so she was not able to participate.
Anne Harrison said we need to locate a Vendor Contact person for advertising sales for the FAFLRT Newsletter. Of course, the person will have to have no contracting conflicts to take on this role. Please ask staff members to locate a willing and able person.
Anne Harrison said the Winter/Fall Newsletter will be late as she is still working on it. Rebekka Bernotat at the USACE in Portland, Oregon is the Newsletter editor.
We discussed the programs for ALA Annual in Chicago this summer. Nancy Faget is not planning to host a program with us. Kathleen H. suggested we have a HOW TO GET INTO THE FEDERAL SYSTEM program this year because it has been a few years since we did and there is a lot of interest on the subject. Anne H. suggested that we include a Rising Star on the program and include the Changing Roles Librarians are playing in the Federal government. Any speaker suggestions should be sent to Virginia Sanchez, as she is planning the programs for Annual.
The consensus is that we need a new Federal Director candidate for Betty’s old position. Anne will send an announcement to the Listserv along with a request for a Vendor contact person.
Luckily announcements are coming through on the Listserv as everyone seemed to have received the latest one regarding NMRT participation.
Ed Burgess agreed to participate in a Library Relocation Program at Annual, if he gets permission to attend. Of course, if you know of anyone else who could contribute, please notify Virginia Sanchez.
$1.8k is deemed enough for food for the Annual Awards Luncheon as it will probably not be too well attended as the Federal Government is limiting all conferences. We currently have enough of a cushion for design services.
Anne is re-doing the budget and will present it before the next meeting.
It was generally agreed that we need a candidate for Federal Director for the next election. This is the position Betty Landesman had to resign from when she took a job outside the Federal Government.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Feb 8 at 1:00 PM EST.
