Propose an educational program for public library professionals that’s thought-provoking and engaging.

  • Propose a program for 2023 ALA Annual Conference
    PLA invites you to submit an education program proposal for the 2023 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition, taking place June 22–27 in Chicago! ALA Annual will focus on cutting-edge trends, resources, and creative solutions for libraries of all kinds. If you have developed successful best practices or strategies that you’d like to share with your colleagues and peers, please submit your proposal by September 16, 2022.

  • Submit a proposal for a PLA webinar
    If you have an idea for a webinar you'd like PLA to present, we encourage you to submit a proposal. PLA opens a call for webinar proposals twice per year, with deadlines of May 31 and November 30 of each year. PLA's call for webinar proposals is now open! If you have an idea for a webinar you'd like PLA to present, we encourage you to submit a proposal. The deadline for submissions is May 31.

Write for Public Libraries Magazine
Public Libraries, published six times a year, is the official publication of the Public Library Association. ALA’s only journal devoted exclusively to public libraries, Public Libraries magazine offers important industry news, PLA/ALA updates, and columns and feature articles that offer strategies and ideas that can make a difference in your career. Submissions to Public Libraries are invited and encouraged. If you’re interested in writing a feature article, a shorter opinion piece, reviewing books, or sending press releases, please contact the editor, Kathleen Hughes at to discuss your idea and deadlines.
