Corey M. Fleming is the director of the Paterson (NJ) Free Public Library, an urban library system that truly values public service and understands the changing need of its customers. Corey received his Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Masters in Library Science from the University at Albany, State University of New York. With over twenty years of experience, his background includes work in legal, governmental, special, academic, and public libraries. He has extensive experience and success in many areas of modern practices as they relate to public library service. He is familiar with new technologies and innovations in library service which meet the diverse information needs of customers. Corey sits on the executive boards of the New Jersey Library Association and LibraryLinkNJ Cooperative. He is the vice president of the PALS Plus Library Consortium, which serve public and academic libraries throughout Passaic, Essex, and Hudson Counties in New Jersey. He is a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and loves giving back to communities that he is a part of. Corey enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his family.

“I’m Corey M. Fleming, director of the Paterson Free Public Library, an urban library system that truly values public service and understands the driving progress of the customers. I am writing the following to express my keen interest in serving as a member at large on the PLA Board. With over twenty years of experience, my diverse background includes a myriad of segments—legal, government, special, academic, and public libraries. My extensive experience and success enable me to collaborate within many areas of modern practices as they relate to urban public library service. Throughout my tenure, I continue to develop modern technologies and creative innovations in library service to meet the distinctive information needs of today’s customers. I am a seasoned leader with extensive experience working with diversified communities and constituencies. I develop and cultivate relationships with officials on various levels of government. I have in-depth knowledge of innovations in multiple service delivery models, which meets the ever changing and unique requirements of the customers. I have a driving passion for libraries and communities that is unmatched. With my dedication and experience, I will be an invaluable asset to the Public Library Association. I commit to expanding the work of PLA and I will ardently advocate for libraries on local, state and national levels.”
