Jeannie Dilger’s thirty-seven-year career in libraries spans the U.S., from North Carolina to Washington State, serving public library populations from 8,000 to 2.5 million in rural, suburban, and urban settings. Currently she is the executive director of Palatine Library District in Illinois. A former president of the Illinois Library Association, Jeannie is passionate about advocacy and professional development.

Jeannie also owns her own business as a productivity trainer and consultant, providing virtual assistance and training to nonprofits, professional associations, and small businesses. Jeannie is a proud member of the queer community and has a nonbinary child attending her alma mater, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Personal Statement

“My career has centered around providing the resources that library staff and the public need to grow and thrive. In these post-pandemic times, I see our libraries already transforming to provide new services to meet the needs of our communities. I am most excited about the opportunity to serve on the PLA Board of Directors as the organization focuses on transformation of public libraries and the professional growth of all library workers.”
