President's Column
by Deana Groves
Greetings, NMRT Members!
It was good to see many of you in sunny San Diego at the ALA Midwinter Conference. The weather was beautiful, the food was great, and the conference was a big success. For those that did not make it to the West Coast, I’d like to share a few NMRT highlights:
- The conference kicked-off with a great turnout for the Saturday morning NMRT Conference Orientation. This year the Orientation Committee tried a new format for the event: a panel discussion. The committee came up with some excellent questions for the panel, and audience members provided questions as well. Congratulations on another great NMRT event!
- Midwinter Social was also a big success. We spent a wonderful evening socializing and networking at the Borders Bookstore in the Gaslamp District. It was centrally located around a number of trendy restaurants, so many had the opportunity to stop by on their way to dinner. Attendees enjoyed delicious deserts and discounted shopping, a great combination! The committee did an excellent job of managing the reception and a special thanks to those who donated door prizes.
- During the NMRT Board meeting, the Nominating Committee presented a great slate of candidates. I look forward to learning more about each of them during the online candidate forum that begins this month. Keep your eyes peeled for a new feature this year: included in the posts will be a link to one YouTube video response. Please follow the links in order to be a fully informed voter!
Speaking of elections, the ALA election will be held March 16th – April 22nd. More information can be found
here.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
