President's Message
Dear NMRTers:
The Midwinter meeting in Seattle was both successful and fun. The Orientation Committee put on yet another informative Orientation, the Resume Review Service was popular, and the Midwinter Social at the Elephant & Castle and the Meet & Greet were well-attended. At the All-committee meeting, committees met and planned events that will be both online and at the Annual Conference in DC. Stay tuned to NMRT-L for details on these events.
Don't forget that we've entered the online social networking arena on MySpace,
Frappr, and
Facebook, so please drop by. We also have carved out a brand-new space for ourselves in the
ALA Communities. Here's the official word on the new NMRT community, which was created by the President's Program and Membership Meeting Committee:
The New Members Round Table (NMRT) Community is a place for collaboration and discussion amongst all NMRT members. Any NMRT or ALA paying members have access to this Community and are welcome to join into any discussions taking place here.
Please feel free to use the forum section below to discuss how you feel about what we're doing here, as well as take part in discussions initiated by other members.
If you are a Committee Chair and would like to create a new "page" or community to foster discussion within your NMRT Committee, please contact Tim Donohue (
tdonohue@uiuc.edu) or Michael Bolam (
mrbst20@pitt.edu), co-chairs of the NMRT Web Committee.
Please feel free to use this space for comments, accolades, complaints, jokes, networking, collaboration, or whatever pleases you. I am particularly interested in creative ideas and brainstorming sessions on how to make NMRT better, but you may find it useful for making connections between NMRT committees and their work, or to just meet some new people.
Finally, committee appointments are well underway for the 2007-2008 committee year. Please fill out and encourage your friends to fill out the NMRT committee volunteer form. Nanette Donohue, the incoming President, has a lot of exciting plans for next year, so you don't want to miss out.
As always, we are interested in hearing from NMRTers, so if you have specific questions, please contact
us.
Amanda Roberts
2006-2007 NMRT President
