NMRT President Janel Kinlaw accepted her 2012 Rising Star Award at the Special Libraries Association (SLA) conference in Chicago on July 15, 2012.

Annie Pho, a managing editor at the HackLibSchool Blog, led a Conversation Starter at ALA Anaheim titled Hacking Library School. Other participants from the blog included Topher Lawson, Rebecca Halpern, and Theresa Silva.

Courtney L. Young, Head Librarian and Associate Professor of Women's Studies at J. Clarence Kelly Library, Penn State Greater Allegheny, presented Virtual Reference Discussion Forum: What's Next for Virtual Reference at ALA Anaheim. A summary article is available in Library Journal.
