Still time to apply for the Scholastic Library Publishing National Library Week Grant

CHICAGO — There is less than a week left to apply for the  2013 Scholastic Library Publishing National Library Week Grant. The library that develops the best public awareness campaign using the National Library Week theme will be awarded $3,000 to promote its library and library services.

ACRL offering e-Learning scholarships

CHICAGO — The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) announces e-Learning scholarships to help librarians, library staff and library school students stretch their professional development dollars. Twelve e-Learning scholarships will be awarded – seven covering the registration cost of a webcast and five covering the cost of an online course. Nominations sought for 2013 RUSA achievement awards, research and travel grants

CHICAGO — Nominations are now being accepted for the many achievement awards and conference travel and research grants offered by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

Nominations now accepted for Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award

Apply by Dec. 15 to receive $4,000, national recognition for program model

CHICAGO —The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award for Exemplary Humanities Programming. School libraries, public or private, that served children in any combination of grades K-8 and conducted humanities programs during the 2011-2012 school year are eligible.

Apply now for ACRL 2013 scholarships

CHICAGO — The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) is offering 70 scholarships in five categories worth more than $40,000 for the upcoming ACRL 2013 conference to be held April 10-13, 2013, in Indianapolis. Applications for scholarships in all categories are due Nov. 9, 2012. Complete details on each scholarship category and application instructions are available on the ACRL 2013 website.

PLA now accepting nominations for nine service awards and grants

CHICAGO — Through the generosity of sponsors, the Public Library Association (PLA) is offering nine awards/grants designed to highlight the best in public library service and to honor those bringing innovation, creativity and dedication to public libraries. Carnegie-Whitney awards up to $5,000

CHICAGO — The American Library Association Publishing Committee provides a grant of up to $5,000 for the preparation of print or electronic reading lists, indexes or other guides to library resources that promote reading or the use of library resources at any type of library.

ALCTS 2013 preservation awards nominations sought

CHICAGO — Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) preservation awards. ALCTS presents three preservation awards, through its Preservation and Reformatting Section, to honor individuals whose work represents the finest achievements in research, collaboration, creative work, leadership and service in preservation or to support a new preservation staff member’s participation in preservation activities at the ALA Annual Conference.  

Ten librarians win Teen Read Week™ Mini Grants from YALSA

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), announced the winners of its 10 Teen Read Week Mini Grants. The grants, funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, give each winning library $1,000 to use for events, programs and services to encourage teen reading and celebrate Teen Read Week, Oct. 14–20.
