CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has awarded 15 libraries mini-grants to start their own Día Family Book Club. These clubs will utilize multi-cultural, multi-lingual or second language books to provide an opportunity for families in  their community to come together. The mini-grants are part of ALSC’s Everyone Reads @ your library grant, generously funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) has awarded 10 2014 Spectrum Scholar/PLA Conference Travel Grants to Spectrum Scholars LaToya Devezin, Claudia Flores, Gloria Jertberg, William Langston, Sarah Hashemi Scott, Eimmy Solis, Victoria Thomas, Jade Valenzuela, Marco Veyna-Reyes and Sophie Young.

CHICAGO - The American Library Association’s Office for Diversity has announced the recipients of the Diversity Research Grants for 2013.

The grants consist of a one-time $2,500 award for original research.  Recipients will conduct their research over the course of the year, are expected to compile the results of their research into a paper and will be asked to present and publish the final product in conjunction with the American Library Association.
