CHICAGO — The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is now accepting applications for mini-grants intended to allow libraries to initiate Día Family Book Club programs. Mini-grants are part of ALSC’s Everyone Reads @ your library grant, generously funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

CHICAGO — Miriam Tuliao, assistant director for selection at BookOps of the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) and The New York Public Library (NYPL), announced that she will participate in the IGLA Championship Open Water Swim to help raise funds for ALA’s Spectrum Scholarship Program and promote diversity in libraries. The event, to be held Aug. 18, 2013, is a two-mile open water swim taking place in Lake Washington off the coast of Mercer Island.

Nussbaum, retired reference librarian, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress, is the recipient of the 2013 Cathleen Bourdon Service Award for exceptional service to and sustained leadership for the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of ALA.
CHICAGO — Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen has been named the recipient of the 2013 ASCLA Leadership and Professional Achievement Award — an annual honor presented to an ASCLA member exemplifying leadership and achievement in one or more of the following areas: consulting, library cooperation, networking, statewide services and programs and state library development.
