CHICAGO — Art Aids Art and the eKhaya eKasi Art and Education Center in Khayelitsha, South Africa; the Athens Housing Authority, University of Georgia College of Education, and Parkview Community in Athens, GA; and the Uni Project in New York, NY have been selected to receive books as part of the 2018 Coretta Scott King Book Donation Grant program.

CHICAGO -- Today the Public Library Association (PLA) announced the libraries in its 2018 Inclusive Internship Initiative (III) cohort. Last summer, PLA piloted this first-of-its-kind internship program designed to present librarianship as a viable career option for the next generation of Americans. In 2017, PLA sponsored paid, mentored public library internships for 50 high school juniors and seniors at 39 host libraries across the U.S., including two tribal libraries and sites in Alaska and Hawaii.

CHICAGO – Demographic trends indicate the United States will become a majority minority country in the near future. To help guide local communities during this time of rapid social change, libraries and librarians are developing programs, services and collections that are as diverse as the populations they serve.
