The Freedom to Read Foundation Roll of Honor Committee is excited to announce Doug Archer and Barbara Jones as the recipients of the 2018 Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF) Roll of Honor Award. Both recipients have been integral to intellectual freedom work within American libraries for decades. The awards will be presented at the 2018 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in New Orleans during its Opening General Session on Friday, June 22, 4-5:30 p.m., in Exhibit Hall F of the Morial Convention Center.
CHICAGO - Beginning this week, the American Library Association's “Choose Privacy” website has a new look and a new URL — chooseprivacyeveryday.org — which emphasizes the importance of preserving patron privacy and data security in today’s libraries every day of the year.
Since 2010, ALA’s “Choose Privacy” website has served as a valuable source of news, information, resources and programming related to privacy, confidentiality and data security in the digital world.

The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) has awarded the 2018 Eli M. Oboler Memorial Award, which recognizes the best published work in the area of intellectual freedom. The 2018 award goes to Robert P. Doyle, for his work "Banned Books: Defending our Freedom to Read," published in 2017 by the Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association.
