CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, in collaboration with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and National Museum of American History (NMAH), invites applications from public, academic and special libraries, small museums, and historical societies for the traveling exhibition  Changing America: The Emancipation Proclamation, 1863 and the March on Washington, 1963.

ALA announces “Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry,” a traveling exhibition and public programming opportunity for libraries

CHICAGO – The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, in partnership with the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Library and the Mount Holyoke College (MHC) Library, invites applications from public, academic and special libraries for Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry: A Traveling Exhibition and Public Programs for Libraries about the Dust Bowl. The project is made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor. Online applications must be submitted to ALA by Sept. 30, 2013.

NEH, ALA announce 125 grants to support 'Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys' programs

CHICAGO — The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), in collaboration with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, announced that  125 libraries and state humanities councils will receive programming grants of $3,500 - 4,500 to host a Let’s Talk About It reading and discussion series featuring some of the materials included in the Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys.

Learn to deliver transformative arts programming for older adults at 2013 ALA Annual Conference workshop

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, in partnership with Lifetime Arts, Inc., will present a day-long preconference workshop during the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, based on Lifetime Arts' Creative Aging Public Libraries Project.

Creative Aging programming, aimed at adults aged 55+, answers this growing demographics’ desire to be engaged, social and creative by moving programming beyond passive entertainment to active engagement through professional arts education.
