CHICAGO — In co-sponsorship with the American Library Association (ALA), EBSCO awarded five librarians $1,500 scholarships to attend the ALA Midwinter Meeting Jan. 25–29, 2013 in Seattle.

As part of the application process, librarians were asked to write an essay on the topic: “The conversation starts here: How would you lead the discussion in your library to bring about meaningful change to an existing process, service, or procedure?”

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) and EBSCO are partnering to offer seven scholarships for librarians to attend the 2013 Annual Conference. The meeting takes place June 27 – July 2, 2013, and offers an opportunity for continuing education, meetings and interaction with colleagues.

Each EBSCO scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000.  The scholarship money is to be used for conference registration, travel and expenses.

CHICAGO — Clara Nalli Bohrer, director of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library in West Bloomfield, Mich., and Mario M. Gonzalez, executive director of the Passaic (N.J.) Public Library, are the candidates for treasurer of the American Library Association (ALA) for 2013-16.
