CHICAGO — Sari Feldman, executive director of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, Parma, Ohio, has been elected president of the American Library Association for the 2015-16 term.

Feldman received 5,184 votes, while her opponent, Maggie Farrell, dean of libraries at the University of Wyoming, Laramie, received 4,185 votes.

CHICAGO — If you haven’t submitted your application for the 2014 “Leading to the Future” ALA Leadership Institute (Aug. 10-14, Eaglewood Resort, Ill.), you have until Friday, April 25 to do so. Building on the success of the 2013 inaugural ALA Leadership Institute, and with support from Innovative Interfaces, the four-day immersive leadership development program for 40 mid-career librarians will be led again by ALA Past-President Maureen Sullivan and ACRL Content Strategist Kathryn Deiss.

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce the 2014 Peggy Sullivan Award for Public Library Administrators Supporting Services to Children has been awarded to Luis Herrera, San Francisco Public Library’s city librarian.  The Sullivan Award is presented annually to an individual in a library administrator role who has shown exceptional understanding and support of public library service to children.

CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) is gearing up for its upcoming election.

Polls will open at 9 a.m. Central time on March 19, 2014 for the American Library Association’s annual election.

For the sixth year in a row, the American Library Association is holding its election exclusively online.  Last week, members received notification by email confirming their eligibility to vote.  To be eligible to vote, individuals must be members in good standing as of Jan. 31, 2014.
