Top genre fiction titles named to 2011 RUSA Reading List

SAN DIEGO —The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) has announced its selection for the 2011 Reading List.
 
The Reading List annually recognizes the best books in eight genres: adrenaline (including suspense, thriller and adventure), fantasy, historical fiction, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction and women’s fiction.

2011 Sophie Brody Medal for Jewish literature names winner, honor title

SAN DIEGO — The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) has announced its selection for the 2011 Outstanding Reference Sources. 

The Outstanding Reference Sources list of titles identifies the most important reference publications for small and medium-sized public and academic libraries published in a given year. The publication of this list began in 1958 and now also includes outstanding electronic resources.

Bill Ott named 2011 Louis Shores Award recipient for book reviewing

SAN DIEGO — The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) has announced its selection for the 2011 Louis Shores Award.
 
Bill Ott, editor and publisher of Booklist magazine, was selected for his outstanding contributions to the field of reviewing. At Booklist, he not only helms a publication that is one of the most important review sources in the country and an invaluable resource for librarians, but he also consistently contributes some of its most thoughtful and insightful reviews.

Best fiction, non-fiction and poetry for adults named to 2011 Notable Books List

SAN DIEGO — The Notable Books Council of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association, has announced its selections for the 2011 Notable Books List.
 
Since 1944, the goal of the Notable Books Council has been to make available to the nation’s readers a list of about 25 very good, very readable and, at times, very important fiction, nonfiction and poetry books for the adult reader.
