United for Libraries (UNITED)

CHICAGO — United for Libraries will join LLAMA in hosting the preconference “Raising $: Process and People” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 28 at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. 

PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries will present the free webinar “Library Advocacy at the State Level: 12 Steps to Success” from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, April 30.

PHILADELPHIA - Applications for the Citizens-Save-Libraries grants from United for Libraries, made possible by a grant from the Neal-Schuman Foundation, are due April 15, 2013.

The 20 grants will support advocacy at the local level for libraries with troubled budgets by sending expert advocates to library sites over the next two years. The expert advocates will help friends of the library groups, library directors and trustees develop individual blueprints for advocacy campaigns to restore, increase or save threatened library budgets.

PHILADELPHIA – United for Libraries is accepting applications for the Baker & Taylor Awards, given to friends of the library groups and library foundations. Applications are due May 1, 2013.

Given annually since 2000, the Baker & Taylor Awards have recognized more than 40 groups for outstanding efforts to support their library. Each winning group receives $1,000.
