United for Libraries’ July 27 Learning Live session will continue education on Gift Acceptance Policies

EXTON, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries’ monthly virtual series, Learning Live, will continue with “Gift Acceptance Policies Part 2: Advice from the Pros for Writing Your Policy” at 2 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, July 27. EXTON, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries has extended the deadline to submit proposals for its upcoming online conference “United for Libraries Virtual: Trustees – Friends – Foundations,” scheduled to be held Aug. 3-5, 2021.

Will Shorter named 2021 ALA Trustee Citation recipient

ALA and United for Libraries have named William A. Shorter, Jr., Anne Arundel County Public Library (Md.) Board of Trustees Chair, a recipient of the ALA Trustee Citation.

Gordon Baker elected 2022-2023 United for Libraries president

EXTON, Pennsylvania — Dr. Gordon Baker, Dean of Libraries, Emeritus at Clayton State University and chair of both Georgia Library Association and Southeastern Library Association’s Trustees, Friends and Advocates Division and Section, has been elected 2022-2023 United for Libraries president. Baker will serve as president-elect during 2021-2022 under 2021-2022 United for Libraries President Charity Tyler.
