United for Libraries

BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — The Williamsburg (Va.) Regional Library Foundation and the Friends of Smyrna (Tenn.) Library have been recognized with United for Libraries’ Baker & Taylor Awards for outstanding efforts to support their library. Each group receives $1,000 and a clock from Baker & Taylor to honor their achievements. The groups were recognized at United for Libraries’ Gala Author Tea, sponsored by ReferenceUSA, at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries will present “It’s a Mystery to Me: Crime Fighting Authors” on Monday, June 26, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at McCormick Place West, W185a.

Join Scott Turow, Kate White, Brian Pinkerton, Diane Vallere, and Susanna Calkins as they discuss their latest books and their lives as writers. A book signing will follow. This program will be oderated by Barbara Hoffert, editor of Library Journal's Prepub Alert.

New York – United for Libraries, in partnership with the Empire State Center for the Book, will designate the Lotos Club in New York City as a Literary Landmark at a reception at the club on Wednesday, June 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries will present “Engaging Book Clubs in Your Community,” featuring the author of the inaugural Book Club Central selection chosen by Sarah Jessica Parker, on Sunday, June 25, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
