Palo Alto College Library staff wins ACRL CJCLS EBSCO Community College Learning Resources Award

CHICAGO — The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) announces that the library staff at Palo Alto College in San Antonio has been chosen to receive the 2013 Community and Junior College Libraries Section (CJCLS) EBSCO Community College Learning Resources Award for its work on the project Library a la Carte.

Baker receives ACRL CJCLS EBSCO Community College Learning Resources Leadership Award

CHICAGO — The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), is announcing that Linda Baker, manager of reference, instruction and collection development at the El Centro College Library, Dallas, Texas, has been chosen to receive the 2013 Community and Junior College Libraries Section (CJCLS) EBSCO Community College Learning Resources Leadership Award.

The $500 award and plaque, donated by EBSCO Information Services, will be presented to Baker on Friday, June 28, 2013, during the CJCLS Awards Dinner at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

ACRL 2013 ProQuest Library Support Staff Scholarship recipients

CHICAGO — The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has awarded eight ProQuest Library Support Staff Scholarships for the ACRL 2013 conference to be held April 10 -13, 2013, in Indianapolis.  The purpose of the ProQuest Library Support Staff Scholarships is to provide opportunities for academic and research library support staff to update their skills and knowledge by participating in an ACRL professional development experience.

2013 ACRL presidential candidates online forum

CHICAGO — The 2013 candidates for Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) vice-president/ president-elect will participate in an open online forum at 1 p.m. Central time on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.  Maggie Farrell and Karen Williams will discuss their platforms and vision for ACRL and field questions from the audience. Farrell is dean of libraries at the University of Wyoming, and Williams is associate university librarian for research and learning at the University of Minnesota.

Hutton named 2013 Routledge Distance Learning Librarianship Conference Sponsorship Award winner

CHICAGO – Jane M. Hutton, electronic resources/reference librarian and assistant professor at West Chester University, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Routledge Distance Learning Librarianship Conference Sponsorship Award.

Walker named 2013 ACRL/EBSS Distinguished Librarian

CHICAGO — Judith A. Walker, education/psychology librarian and professor at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, is the recipient of the 2013 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Education and Behavioral Sciences Section (EBSS) Distinguished Education and Behavioral Sciences Librarian Award.

This award honors a distinguished academic librarian who has made an outstanding contribution as an education and/or behavioral sciences librarian through accomplishments and service to the profession.

ACRL 2013 Virtual Conference registration opens

CHICAGO — Registration is now open for the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) ACRL 2013 Virtual Conference. Fountain named 2013 Marta Lange/CQ Press Award winner

CHICAGO – Kathi Carlisle Fountain, head of collection development at the Washington State University - Vancouver Library, has been awarded the 2013 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Law and Political Science Section (LPSS) Marta Lange/CQ Press Award. The award, established in 1996 by LPSS, honors an academic or law librarian who has made distinguished contributions to bibliography and information service in law or political science.

ACRL/LLAMA Presidents’ Program at 2013 ALA Annual, leadership moment contest
