CHICAGO—Today the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is launching the new ALCTS News website on WordPress, moving from the previous content management system Drupal. With this migration, ALCTS News hopes to make content easier to find and to allow readers to engage with the information they want and need.

Culinary Historian Michael W. Twitty to serve as 2018 Preservation Week® Honorary Chair

CHICAGO – Food writer, independent scholar, culinary historian and historical interpreter Michael W. Twitty will join the Association for Library Collections &Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association, to pass on his knowledge of family history and cooking during Preservation Week, April 22 – 28, 2018, a time when librarians and library workers share their expertise about preserving family heirlooms and treasures. 

Nancy E. Kraft receives Banks Harris Preservation Award

CHICAGO—Nancy E. Kraft is the recipient of the 2018 Paul Banks and Carolyn Harris Preservation Award. This award is given annually by the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS). Sponsored by Preservation Technologies, L.P., the award consists of $1,500 and a citation. Kraft’s consistent leadership, service, advocacy and dedication to preservation education embodies the qualities of the Banks Harris Award.

Larry P. Alford wins 2018 Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award

CHICAGO — Larry P. Alford, chief librarian at the University of Toronto, has been named the 2018 winner of the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Alford will receive a cash award and citation during the ACRL President’s Program on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.

Named in honor of one of the pioneers of library automation, the Atkinson Award recognizes an academic librarian who has made significant contributions in the area of library automation or management and has made notable improvements in library services or research.

Susan Davis recipient of Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) congratulates the recipient of the 2018 Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award, Susan Davis. Presented by the Continuing Resources Section (CRS) of ALCTS, this award consists of a citation and $1,500 donated by ProQuest and is given for distinguished contributions to serials librarianship.

Bruce Johnson selected for Margaret Mann Citation

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) announces that Bruce Johnson is the recipient of the 2018 Margaret Mann Citation presented by its Cataloging and Metadata Management Section (CaMMS). The Mann Citation will be presented on June 23 at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony at the 2018 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans, La.

Joanna Voss receives ProQuest Coutts Award for Innovation

CHICAGO—The Association of Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Collection Management Section (CMS) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2018 ProQuest Coutts Award for Innovation. Joanna Voss, collections analyst at OhioLINK, is recognized for her leadership in improving workflow and data sharing management of electronic resources for OhioLINK members. The award recognizes significant and innovated contributions to electronic collections management and development practice.

Big Ten Academic Alliance Cooperative Cataloging Partnership receives ALCTS Collaboration Award

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has selected the Big Ten Academic Alliance Cooperative Cataloging Partnership (BTAA CCP) as the recipient of the ALCTS Outstanding Collaboration Citation for 2018.

2018 Cunha-Swartzburg Award to Sandy Nyberg

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) Jury for the George Cunha and Susan Swartzburg Preservation Award has selected Sandra "Sandy" Nyberg as the 2018 recipient. The award, sponsored by Hollinger Metal Edge, will be presented during a ceremony at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans, La.
