CHICAGO—Core is pleased to announce the slate of candidates for the 2023-2024 ALA Core election.  The Core election will open on March 13, 2023 and will continue through April 5, 2023.

All Core members in good standing as of March 13, 2023, are eligible to participate and vote in this election.

CHICAGO–Join Core on February 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. CT for the webinar “Best of Core Forum: A Roadmap for Evidence-Based Strategic Planning.” The purpose of strategic planning is to create a plan for an organization to move forward. It clarifies the mission and vision, and names the priorities to inform resource allocation.

CHICAGO — Open Access (OA) has evolved into the most complex challenge of the scholarly publishing landscape and something libraries grapple with continuously. But although librarians hold increasingly positive perceptions about OA, including its richness of unique content and immediacy of access, many lack the understanding, training, documentation, and knowledge of best practices that would allow them to engage with it confidently.

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures is pleased to announce that Rachel Wells has been chosen as a Core Emerging Leader (EL). Wells works as the Reference Librarian at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York where she is responsible for answering reference questions related to all facets of baseball. She also works on collection development.

"I am humbled to be selected for the ALA Emerging Leaders Class of 2023," Wells said. "I'm ecstatic to work other members and to see what we can accomplish for ALA!"
