Alexander Dodd Chosen as a 2023 Core Emerging Leader

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures is pleased to announce that Alexander Dodd has been named as a Core Emerging Leader (EL). Currently working as the Continuing Resources Librarian at the University Libraries at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, Dodd's areas of focus in libraries include open access and scholarly publishing.

Longlist for 2021 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction announced

CHICAGO – A total of 46 books (26 fiction, 20 nonfiction) has been selected for the longlist for the 2021 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction. The list is now available on the awards’ website. The six-title shortlist—three each for the fiction and nonfiction medals—will be chosen from longlist titles and announced on November 17, 2020.

Mario M. González, Rhea B. Lawson selected to serve as ALA Endowment Fund Trustees

CHICAGO – Mario M. González, Director of the Passaic (NJ) Public Library and Rhea B. Lawson, Director of the Houston Public Library, have been selected to serve as the American Library Association’s (ALA) newest Endowment Trustees.  The ALA Executive Board made these selections during their meeting at the 2020 Virtual Annual Conference at June 30, 2020. The three-year terms of these newly selected trustees will begin immediately.
