Core Forum 2021 welcomes our Opening Keynote speaker, Nikole Hannah-Jones, and Closing Keynote Speaker, Jonathan Moody!

The October 7-9 Core Forum in Baltimore will be our first opportunity to celebrate the diverse and interconnected library work of Core members. We’ll engage the collective expertise of presenters and participants, facilitating thought-provoking conversations over two days of presentations, tabletop exhibits, and poster sessions. There will be opportunities to safely reconnect with colleagues during receptions, dine-arounds, and in the uncommons space. 

AASL President’s Program Panel Discusses the Power of Words

United for Libraries Virtual Conference program proposal deadline extended to May 24

EXTON, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries has extended the deadline to submit proposals for its upcoming online conference “United for Libraries Virtual: Trustees – Friends – Foundations,” scheduled to be held Aug. 3-5, 2021.

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures is honored to have Kaetrena Davis Kendrick, renowned author, scholar, facilitator, and co-host of the popular podcast series #FixMyLibrary as its President's Program speaker at ALA Annual from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, June 26. Focusing on her research on morale in the workplace, Kendrick will discuss the impacts of repeated and long-term exposure to workplace abuse and/or neglect on employee emotional and physical health and career practice and outlook.

Academic librarians promoting a culture of diversity in higher education

CHICAGO – The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) 2021 Virtual Conference, taking place online from April 13-16, 2021, will showcase how academic and research libraries cultivate more open and inclusive organizations, collections, and services.

Stanley Tucci and Areli Morales to appear as featured speakers at ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition (Virtual)

CHICAGO – The American Library Association today announces that actor and author Stanley Tucci and children’s book author Areli Morales will be among the featured speakers at the virtual 2021 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition, June 23-29. Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Registration for the conference is now open and discounted rates are available through April 16, 2021.

YALSA seeks proposals for 2021 YA Services Symposium

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is seeking program proposals for its 2021 Young Adult Services Symposium. The theme of the symposium is “Biggest Little Safe Spaces: Serving Teens During Times of Adversity.” It will follow a hybrid virtual/in-person format and will be held from November 5-7, 2021 in Reno, NV.
