Library Instruction Round Table Accepting Nominations for Two Awards

The American Library Association's (ALA) Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) welcomes submissions for two awards created to recognize excellence in information literacy and instruction. Submissions from all types of libraries (public, school, special, academic) are encouraged. Winners will receive a $1,000 award, a plaque, and a $500 travel stipend to be used to attend the ALA 2018 Annual Conference in New Orleans, where the awards will be presented.

AASL offers assistance to schools impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) offers its support to its colleagues impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. As recovery efforts begin, AASL encourages schools to apply for one of two AASL disaster relief grants: the AASL Beyond Words Grant funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Inspire Disaster Recovery Grant sponsored by Marina "Marney" Welmers. 

Applications open for the 2018 AASL awards program

CHICAGO - Applications for the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 2018 awards season are now available. AASL members are encouraged to nominate a colleague or themselves to be lauded for their outstanding talent and dedication to the profession as part of this prestigious program. AASL awards and grants recognize excellence and showcase best practices in the school library field in categories that include collaboration, leadership and innovation.

RUSA achievement awards nomination period opens

CHICAGO—Beginning October 1, 2017, the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) will open the nomination period for its annual series of achievement awards and grants. Nominations and supporting materials for most awards must be submitted by January 5, 2018*.

ALCTS 2018 Ross Atkinson Award nominations sought

CHICAGO—Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 15.

ALCTS 2018 Publication Awards nominations sought

CHICAGO—Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) awards for excellence in publication. ALCTS presents two Publication Awards to honor individuals for outstanding achievement in research and writing in the field of library collections and technical services.

CHICAGO—Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) awards for outstanding achievement and promise in the field of serials and continuing resources. The awards are presented by the Continuing Resources Section of ALCTS. One award honors an individual who shows outstanding promise in the field of serials, while the other recognizes an individual whose work represents the finest achievements in research, collaboration, creative work, leadership and service.
