Preconference registration opens for Core Forum

CHICAGOEven before the 2022 Core Forum officially kicks off with an evening welcome reception on Thursday, October 13, attendees can register to participate in one of three all-day library buildings tours or one of three workshops offered that same day. Idina Menzel and Cara Mentzel get loud for libraries as honorary chairs of Library Card Sign-up Month 2022

CHICAGO — Tony Award-winning performer, actress, singer-songwriter, and philanthropist Idina Menzel and her sister, author and educator Cara Mentzel, have been named honorary chairs of Library Card Sign-Up Month. This September, Idina and Cara will join the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to sing the praises of a library card. Also in September, the sisters’ debut picture book, Loud Mouse, about a little mouse named Dee who loves to sing very loudly, will be released by Disney Hyperion.

This year’s Preservation Week theme is "Preservation in the Face of Climate Change." Celebrating the concept of climate resiliency, Preservation Week 2022 will highlight the effects of climate change on our shared cultural heritage materials.

Preservation Week® gets a new look, launches new website

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures has unveiled a new logo and branding for its Preservation Week public awareness campaign. In its 12th year, Preservation Week has inspired individuals and communities around the world to preserve personal, family and community collections. In addition, this initiative has raised awareness of the role libraries and other cultural institutions play in providing ongoing preservation education and information.

Showcase Your Library’s Interior Design Work by Applying for the 2022 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures and the Commercial Interior Design Association (IIDA) are currently accepting applications for the 9th annual IIDA/ALA Library Interior Design Awards honoring excellence in library interior design and promoting extraordinary interior spaces across nine categories. Winners and their clients will be honored and showcased during an awards ceremony at the ALA Annual Conference in Washington D.C.
