PLA recognizes four 'I Love My Librarian' Award winners from public libraries

CHICAGO – On Nov. 30, ten librarians were honored with the prestigious 2017 I Love My Librarian Award at a ceremony in New York City. Selected from more than 1,100 nominations submitted by library users nationwide, including educators and members of the public, the winning librarians were recognized for their leadership in transforming lives and communities through education and lifelong learning.

PLA Webinar to introduce core concepts related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in libraries

Stipends available for public library health workshop with National Network of Libraries of Medicine

CHICAGO — Public library workers are invited to apply for a $500 stipend to attend "Stand Up for Health: Health and Wellness Services for Your Community," a preconference workshop held at the Public Library Association (PLA) 2018 Conference in Philadelphia.

The conference will be held from March 20 to 24, 2018, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

CHICAGO — The deadline for prospective speakers to submit session proposals for the Public Library Association (PLA) 2018 Conference is almost here. The 2018 Conference, to be held March 20-24 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will challenge its attendees to Imagine the Possibilities. Preconference and program proposals must be submitted before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 14, 2017.

PLA now accepting proposals for PLA 2018 Conference

CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) is now accepting preconference and program proposals for the PLA 2018 Conference, March 20-24, in Philadelphia. Proposals may be submitted online through the conference website. Faxed, emailed or mailed proposals will not be accepted.

GLBTRT to release new toolkit at PLA Conference

CHICAGO - The American Library Association's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Round Table (GLBTRT) will release a new toolkit at the Public Library Association (PLA) Conference to help Librarians better serve the GLBT population. Titled “Open to All,” this new resource is designed for Libraries of all types and sizes and offers practical tips and resources on purchasing materials, developing programs and promoting partnerships with other organizations.
