CHICAGO – The American Library Association (ALA) today announced that illustrator and children’s book author Brian Selznick will present on the LLX Studio stage at the 2023 LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience in New Orleans, January 27-30, 2023.

Illustrator and author Brian Selznick broke open the novel form with his Caldecott Medal-winning #1 New York Times bestseller, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," adapted into Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning movie Hugo. Two more books, "Wonderstruck" and "The Marvels" completed the genre-defying thematic trilogy that has sold millions of copies and garnered countless accolades worldwide. His most recent titles, "BabyMonkey," "Private Eye," and "Kaleidoscope," were also highly acclaimed New York Times bestsellers.

The fate of all life on Earth may depend on the bravery of two little seeds in Selznick's latest, "Big Tree," available April 2023. Brimming with humor, wonder, mystery, and a profound sense of hope, it is a trailblazing adventure, illustrated with nearly 300-pages of breathtaking images. It is Selznick's most imaginative and far-reaching work to date and a singular reading experience for the whole family.

Beyond the LLX Studio Stage, LibLearnX will offer two Learning Lab education sessions dedicated to diversity and inclusion in children’s literature. Decolonizing Library Shelves through the Rise of Indigenous Children’s Authors and Tools for Adding Children's Books with Authentic Jewish Representation to Your Library.

LibLearnX registration is open, and registrants can save with advance rates through January 15.
