CHICAGO — The Burlington County Library System is the 2021 winner of the prestigious EBSCO Information Services Library Staff Development Award. The award is presented annually to a library organization whose application demonstrates greatest merit for a program of staff development designed to further the goals and objectives of the library organization.
The Burlington County Library System seeks to enrich the lives of its users by providing opportunities for learning, growth and personal development. It serves the largest county in New Jersey, with a culturally and economically diverse population that benefits from culturally empathetic services.
The award jury was impressed by the system’s thoughtful plans for addressing the needs of its community through staff development. With this award, the library will provide training to help staff develop skills and techniques to foster more empathetic and accessible services and spaces for their patrons and staff.
Members of the 2021 EBSCO Information Services Library Staff Development Award committee were Genifer Snipes, Chair, University of Oregon Libraries; Sarah Copeland, Chattanooga State Community College, Tennessee; Susan Earl, Brentwood Library, Tennessee; Charity Cree, Mid-Columbia Libraries, Washington; and Sandy Wee, San Mateo County Libraries, California.
The EBSCO Information Services Library Staff Development Award will be presented to Burlington County Library System Sunday, June 27 during the American Library Association virtual Annual Conference.
