BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries will present “Are You Ready for Fundraising Success? A Step-by-Step Guide for Any Library,” featuring Michael Stevenson, managing principal and co-founder of the Bannack Group, on Monday, June 25, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.
“Let's launch a campaign!” is a common refrain in the world of nonprofits. Too often, however, organizations launch major fundraising initiatives without doing the homework needed to insure success. This session will start with the basics of fundraising vernacular – what is planned giving, legacy giving and an endowment and how are they different? – by taking the 30,000 foot view of fundraising. Stevenson will cover the fundamentals of fundraising and provide a step-by-step guide to planning a successful fundraising initiative or campaign. Specifically, it will provide any library organization – small or large, with or without staff – with a clear, concise way to gauge campaign preparedness, set organizational priorities, and monitor progress toward goals. Successful campaigns begin with successful planning.
Stevenson, who based in the Baton Rouge office of the Bannack Group, has more than 20 years of experience in building and leading high-performing teams in both the private and nonprofit sectors. Stevenson is a visionary leader, experienced nonprofit executive, and proven strategist who specializes in organizational strategy, business analytics, performance management systems, and nonprofit campaigns. Stevenson is a former president and CEO of the Montana State University Foundation, Inc. He led the organization during a period of unprecedented growth and historical transformation, during the merger of the university's alumni association and the foundation, as well as the launch of a private innovation campus. The Bannack Group is a national based firm headquartered in Bozeman, Mont. The firm provides a comprehensive slate of services to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, private foundations, churches and religious organizations, and other nonprofit organizations.
The program will be held in Morial Convention Center, 285. For more information about United for Libraries programs at the ALA Annual Conference, visit http://www.ala.org/united/events_conferences/annual/2018.
