Scott Turow and Kate White among authors at United for Libraries’ mystery panel at ALA Annual

BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania — United for Libraries will present “It’s a Mystery to Me: Crime Fighting Authors” on Monday, June 26, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at McCormick Place West, W185a.

Join Scott Turow, Kate White, Brian Pinkerton, Diane Vallere, and Susanna Calkins as they discuss their latest books and their lives as writers. A book signing will follow. This program will be oderated by Barbara Hoffert, editor of Library Journal's Prepub Alert.

Scott Turow (“Testimony,” Grand Central Publishing/Hachette, May 2017) is  the author of 10 bestselling works of fiction, including “Innocent,” “Presumed Innocent” and “The Burden of Proof.” His books have been translated into more than 40 languages, sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and have been adapted into movies and television projects.

Kate White (“Even If It Kills Her,” Harper/HarperCollins, Oct. 2017), the former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, is the New York Times bestselling author of the standalone psychological thrillers “The Wrong Man,” “Eyes on You,” and the Bailey Weggins mystery series.

Brian Pinkerton (“Bender,” Crossroad Press, 2015) is a USA Today bestselling author of fiction in the suspense, thriller, mystery and horror genres. His novels include “Abducted,” “Vengeance” and “How I Started the Apocalypse.” He received a master's degree from Northwestern University and a B.A. from the University of Iowa, where he took undergraduate courses in the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Diane Vallere (“The Decorator Who Knew Too Much,” Henery Press, April 2017) is a former fashion buyer turned mystery writer, trading fashion accessories for accessories to murder. She is the president of Sisters in Crime, and writes the Samantha Kidd, Madison Night, Material Witness, and Costume Shop Cozy Mysteries.

Susanna Calkins (“A Death Along the River Fleet,” Minotaur Books/St. Martin's Press, April 2016) is the author of the award-winning Lucy Campion historical mysteries. Her books have been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark, Agatha and Macavity awards. A historian by training, Calkins is an educator at Northwestern University.
