CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) has just opened a contest for two library professionals or library students to win their way to the PLA 2016 Conference, April 5-9, in Denver.

The contest requires participants to submit a 60-second (or less) video telling PLA about them, their library and, most importantly, why they want to attend the PLA 2016 Conference and how it will help them to BE EXTRAORDINARY. Two winners will receive a free registration, four nights hotel and up to $500 reimbursement for travel to and from the conference. Find complete details on the PLA Conference website.

The top six videos (determined by PLA) will be posted to the PLA Facebook page for voting. The videos with the most votes on Facebook win! Submissions will be judged based on clear, compelling and creative video statements. We look forward to seeing your videos!

The deadline to submit a video is 4:30 PM Central, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015. The top six videos (determined by PLA) will be posted to the PLA Facebook Page for voting beginning Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. Voting closes at noon Central on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015. The winners will be announced later that day.

Some Guidelines:

·         Videos should be a maximum length of 60 seconds. Accepted file types are MP4, WMV, MOV no larger than 100 MB.

·         Submissions will be judged based on clear, compelling and creative video statements.

·         If your library submits the video, only one person from the library can receive the prize.

·         If you’ve already registered for PLA 2016, you’re still eligible! We’ll simply credit your registration costs.

Offered biennially, the PLA Conference is the premier event for public libraries, drawing thousands of librarians, library support staff, trustees, friends and library vendors from across the country and around the world. Find complete details at placonference.org and join us in Denver!
