Call for nominations: Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship

CHICAGO — Do you know of an individual who has contributed significantly to the public recognition and appreciation of librarianship through professional performance, teaching and/or writing for the Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship?

The Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship began in 2004. Former award recipients include Mary Dempsey (2007), former Chicago library commissioner, Michael Gorman (2010), former American Library Association president and Wendy Newman (2011), former Canadian Library Association president. The award includes $1,000 and a gold-framed citation.

ALA is currently accepting nominations for the Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship. The online application is to be submitted to ALA by December 2, 2013. Selection of the awardee will be made by the end of February 2014 and announced in early March 2014.
