New from ACRL: 'Pay it Forward: Mentoring New Information Professionals'
CHICAGO – The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) announces the publication of the fourth installment in the association’s Active Guides series “Pay it Forward: Mentoring New Information Professionals” by Mary Ann Mavrinac and Kim Sytmest.
“Pay It Forward” provides a unique perspective on mentoring by examining aspects of the relationship from the points of view of both mentor and mentee. Mavrinac and Sytmest describe the benefits of mentoring to each participant, and the profession as a whole, in forming a mentoring partnership. The fourth title in the ACRL Active Guides series, “Pay It Forward” also provides helpful tips on mentoring, a leadership focus tool and insight to encourage new information professionals to seek out mentoring partners and to encourage more seasoned information professionals to act as mentors to newly minted librarians.
ACRL Active Guides address professional and workplace issues. Other titles in the series include “Life-Work Balance,” “Influencing without Authority” and “Conversations that Work: Conducting Performance Assessments.”
“Pay it Forward: Mentoring New Information Professionals” is available for purchase through the ALA Online Store, Amazon and by telephone order at (866) 746-7252 in the U.S. or (770) 442-8633 for international customers.
