CHICAGO — Crafting programs are a mainstay of teen services at the library but the supply costs can add up! But there are some creative ways to extend the teen services budget — a little glue and a lot of innovation—and ensure that teens can have fun making a variety of projects at your library. To find out how, join host Beth Saxton for “Get Crafty for Less,” YALSA’s Aug. 16 webinar at 2 p.m. EDT. Registration is open at www.ala.org/yalsa/webinars.

Webinar attendees will identify:

  • how craft programming supports adolescent development;
  • tactics for controlling cost in craft programming;
  • ways to make use of existing material in the library in teen craft programs.

Saxton will share ideas for jewelry and keychain crafts, recycled materials crafts and paper crafts. All craft ideas presented will cost $20 or under.

This webinar addresses YALSA Competencies:

  • Area II: Knowledge of Client Group
  • Area III: Communication, Marketing and Outreach
  • Area VII: Services

Register today! Registration costs $29 for students, $39 for individual YALSA members, $49 for all other individuals and $195 for group registrations. YALSA’s group rate provides an institution with 10 individual logins.
