CHICAGO—Mythology comes to life in the
Percy Jackson Poster and Bookmark, new from
ALA Graphics. Featuring exclusive artwork by illustrator John Rocco, the poster and bookmark portray a cityscape constructed of tomes towering before Percy, the young protagonist from Rick Riordan’s “The Lightning Thief”. In this first book from the "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" series, Percy discovers he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. Once the boy realizes his power as a demigod—half human, half immortal—he embarks on a quest to recover Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and bring peace to a warring Mt. Olympus.
Not only highly entertaining, the “Percy Jackson & the Olympians” series is an engaging springboard for teaching mythology in classrooms. A Feb. 12 movie release of “The Lightning Thief” will undoubtedly garner more interest in mythology for young readers, as will Riordan’s newest series, “The Kane Chronicles,” available in May.
