CHICAGO - Nominations for the Young Adult Library Services Association’s (YALSA) annual Teens’ Top Ten are now available at
www.ala.org/teenstopten. YALSA also created a downloadable toolkit for librarians and educators to use to promote the titles at their institutions.

YALSA encourages teens to read the 26 nominees before the national Teens’ Top Ten vote, which will take place in August and September at
www.ala.org/teenstopten. The winners will be announced during Teen Read Week, Oct. 17-23.

The Teens' Top Ten is a teen choice list, in which teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Nominators are members of the YA Galley Group — teen book groups in 15 school and public libraries around the country. Teen book groups for YA Galley are chosen every two years; applications are currently being accepted for 2010-2012 at
www.ala.org/teenstopten.

Nominations are posted on Support Teen Literature Day during National Library Week. The 10 nominations that receive the most votes will be named the official Teens' Top Ten. Nominated titles were published between January 2009 and March 15, 2010.

“With teens selecting the titles nominated for Teens' Top Ten, and then teens voting for their favorites, YALSA provides librarians—and the teens that they serve—with the perfect list of peer-reviewed titles,” said Linda W. Braun, YALSA president. “Librarians can use the Teens' Top Ten nominations list in their programming and event planning and schedule everything from discussion groups, to book trailer contests, to blog reviews as a part of Teens' Top Ten activities. The nominations list is a jumping off point for a host of teen related activities both online and in the library building.”

For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos and audio books for teens. For more information about YALSA or for lists of recommended reading, viewing and listening, go to
