CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the fastest-growing division of the American Library Association (ALA), announced the publication of “Cool Teen Programs for under $100,” edited by Jenine Lillian for YALSA.
“Cool Teen Programs for under $100” compiles selected inexpensive teen programs submitted by YALSA members in the United States and Canada, all easily replicable in multiple types of libraries at any budget.
Programs include twists on typical teen fare, such as crafts, food and technology, as well as those that boost teen creativity, encourage teens to engage their brains and bring in teens in underserved populations, such as teen parents or immigrants. In addition to programs, this book includes helpful chapters on budgeting for teen services and marketing tips that you can put into practice at any budget.
“Cool Teen Programs for Under $100" is a collaborative effort, including programs from all types of library settings for any teen audience,” Lillian said. “This book gives librarians a wide variety of easily implementable programs, whether they have little time to plan or face strict budget cuts.”
“Cool Teen Programs for under $100,” edited by Jenine Lillian for YALSA (ISBN: 978-0-8389-8523-6), costs $35 ($32.50 for ALA members). It can be purchased through the ALA Store at
