CHICAGO—ALA Graphics announces the launch of a
21st-Century Learner Poster and Bookmark in the new fall 2009 catalog. ALA Graphics produced the set in collaboration with the
American Association of School Librarians (AASL) to reinforce to students, teachers, administrators, elected officials, parents and the community the importance of school library media programs in facilitating teaching and learning.

“AASL is happy to have partnered with ALA Graphics to capture the essence of the ‘Standards for the 21st-Century Learner’ on this poster and bookmark that can be used with all grade levels,” said Julie Walker, executive director of AASL.

As part of the Learning4Life initiative, the poster and bookmark emphasize the vital roles of critical thinking, decision making, ethical participation in society and personal growth in fostering life-long learning.

Learning4Life is an implementation plan created to support states, school systems and individual schools preparing to implement AASL’s “Standards for the 21st-Century Learner”.

The plan also increases awareness of learning standards and guidelines to create a committed group of stakeholders with a shared voice.
