WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Library Association (ALA) today sent letters to U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey (NY-22) and U.S. Rep. John McHugh (NY-23), thanking them for introducing the Preserving the American Historical Record Act.
The bill will allow for the preservation of local and state historical documents in an accessible manner for the American public and would provide states the opportunity to create preservation plans for their documents in ways that were not possible in the past due to economic constraints.
