CHICAGO—Show your support for future librarians during a fun, interactive evening of art, music and food. The 10th annual Scholarship Bash, sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and ProQuest, will be held at the Art Institute of Chicago this July.

The ALA/ProQuest Scholarship Bash will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, as part of the 2009 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.Â

The building will only be open for ticketed Bash attendees, so you can discover new works of art and visit favorites without fighting the crowds . The Art Institute of Chicago houses several astounding exhibits, including the most acclaimed French Impressionist collection in the U.S.

Tickets are available for $40 in advance and $45 onsite. You must be registered for the ALA Annual Conference to purchase tickets. Tickets can be purchased during the reservation process online; for those already registered, call (800) 974-3084 and add Bash tickets to your existing registration.

This year’s Scholarship Bash continues an ALA Annual Conference tradition that was started 10 years ago by former ALA President Ann K. Symons with the goal of building a scholarship fund for library school students.

The scholarship fund was launched with a $40,000 donation from ALA Conference Services. It now raises more than $500,000 with help of major donors like ProQuest, which has continued to be a major partner with ALA in helping to raise funds for future librarians.

ALA continues to support the Scholarship Bash and appreciates the sponsorships, donations, contributions and support of all the members and exhibitors that have helped make this event such a success each year.

Past events have featured such artists as The Neville Brothers, Koko Taylor and 3 Dog Night, as well as such venues as Disneyland, Universal Studios and Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry.
