This year’s Scholarship Bash continues an ALA Annual Conference tradition that was started 10 years ago by former ALA President Ann K. Symons with the goal of building a scholarship fund for library school students.
The scholarship fund was launched with a $40,000 donation from ALA Conference Services. It now raises more than $500,000 with help of major donors like ProQuest, which has continued to be a major partner with ALA in helping to raise funds for future librarians.
ALA continues to support the Scholarship Bash and appreciates the sponsorships, donations, contributions and support of all the members and exhibitors that have helped make this event such a success each year.
Past events have featured such artists as The Neville Brothers, Koko Taylor and 3 Dog Night, as well as such venues as Disneyland, Universal Studios and Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry.
