CHICAGO –
ALA Editions, the publishing imprint of the American Library Association just released
“Quick and Popular Reads for Teens” by Pam Spencer Holley for the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). For more than 10 years YALSA has produced two annual lists, “Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults” and “Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers,” Â recommending reading targeted at young adults who are not avid readers. Compiling bibliographic information about the books honored by these two selected lists, this one-of-a-kind resource includes:

  • Essays written by young-adult experts.
  • An introductory chapter for each list explaining the selection criteria.
  • Lists of the honored titles, including brief annotations, publisher information and subject/thematic descriptions.
  • A chapter on programming and display ideas.

A past-president of YALSA and noted author in the field of YA librarianship, Holley is a former school librarian and coordinator of School Libraries for Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia. She is also a former chair of “Best Books for Young Adults” and the 2004 Printz Award.

YALSA’s mission is to advocate, promote and strengthen library service to teens, ages 12-18, as part of the continuum of total library services, and to support those who provide library service to this population.

ALA Store purchases fund advocacy, awareness, and accreditation programs for library professionals worldwide.

ALA Editions develops resources for the library and information services community.
