YALSA seeks member editor for new online research journal

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is accepting applications for a member editor for a new online research journal. The deadline for applications is Sept. 30.

“Through its research journal, YALSA plans to promote research in areas of interest to those working with teens in libraries,” said Linda Braun, YALSA president. “To be effective as a librarian and a teen advocate, teen librarians often need research-based information and data that can help them to gain support with the community. YALSA's research journal will be a resource for this type of information and support.”

The member editor will be responsible for the content of the online publication and will work closely with YALSA’s Research Journal Advisory Board, member groups and YALSA’s communications specialist to solicit articles and information. Applicants must have editorial experience, excellent communications skills, the technical capacity to work in an electronic environment and be YALSA members.

YALSA’s goal is to appoint the new editor by January 2010 and to launch the journal in fall 2010. Details on the position, including the position description and honorarium, are available online at
