CHICAGO – "School Library Media Programs in Action: Civic Engagement, Social Justice, and Equity" is the latest in the "Best of KQ" series of publications highlighting articles from the highly respected print journal, Knowledge Quest, published by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL). The new publication is available now in the ALA Store at

"School Library Media Programs in Action" includes topics addressing the big picture of civic engagement, equity, democracy and social justice. Best practices are also highlighted in the articles.

Other publications in the "Best of KQ" series include, "Collaboration" and "Library Service in a Multicultural Society." "Collaboration," provides in-depth coverage of the topic of collaboration between teachers and school library media specialists in education. The editors have pulled together wisdom from experts who have contributed to the topic of collaboration in Knowledge Quest. "Library Service in a Multicultural Society" brings together articles that touch on a wide variety of issues related to culture, including cultural literacy, family, ethnicity, language, gender and technology.

Published bimonthly September through June by the American Association of School Librarians, Knowledge Quest is devoted to offering substantive information to assist building-level library media specialists, supervisors, library educators and other decision makers concerned with the development of school library media programs and services.
