Melissa De Fino named ALCTS Emerging Leader

Melissa De Fino has been selected as the ALCTS sponsored Emerging Leader for 2008-2009.

The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) sponsors one Emerging Leader who has chosen technical services as a career and is a member of ALCTS

De Fino is currently special collections catalog librarian at Rutgers University libraries, where she performs original and complex copy cataloging, creates metadata for digital projects and serves as catalog liaison all for special collections and the University Archives. In addition she co-edits the technical services department Web page and supervises a staff of two library support staff, interns and graduate students. In addition, she is acting coordinator of gifts and unit receipts.

Ms. De Fino is a member of ALCTS, chairing the Catalog Management Interest Group and the ALA New Members Round Table. She received her bachelor of arts degree in English from Fordham University in New York in 2005 and her MLIS degree from Rutgers.

After her year in the Emerging Leader Program, Melissa will serve a one-year term as intern to the ALCTS Board of Directors.

ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association.
