Responses sought for Membership Study
CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a study of its membership. The RFP is available at http://www.ala.org/ala/ors/memresstudyrfp.pdf.
The ALA is seeking proposals that include project scope, recommendations and cost estimates from individuals or organizations interested in conducting demographic research. The information collected from the study will assist the association in its long-range planning efforts.
The recommendation to conduct the study was made by the ALA Presidential Task Force on the Graduated Dues Study, co-chaired by Marcia L. Boosinger of Auburn University Libraries in Auburn, Ala., and Patricia M. Wong of Yolo County Public Library in Woodland, Calif. Boosinger submitted the task force's final report to the ALA Council at the January 2008 Midwinter Meeting.
Responses to the RFP are due by March 14, 2008. Work on the study would begin on April 1, 2008 and must be completed by Aug. 31, 2008. Questions about the RFP should be directed to Cathleen Bourdon, ALA Associate Executive Director, Communications and Member Relations, at cbourdon@ala.org, or (800) 545-2433, ext. 3217.
