CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) Conference Services Department and the Human Resource Development and Recruitment Office (HRDR) is offering ALA Midwinter Meeting attendees the opportunity to identify barriers to their success and consider ways to feel more motivated and satisfied at work.

The Empowerment Institute: Success in the Workplace, presented by Debra Wilcox-Johnson, consultant, Johnson-Johnson Consulting will be held 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Denver in the Colorado Convention Center in Room 709. The program will offer workplace essentials such as how to showcase your talents, document progress, effectively communicate and develop learning plans.

The “Success in the Workplace” Institute offers a valuable opportunity to network and share ideas with library workers from across the nation. All attendees will leave with the techniques for improving their relationships in the workplace and with their supervisors. The workshop is interactive and will provide opportunities to share useful strategies and reflect on individual behavior in the workplace.

The Institute is open to all ALA members and non-members. Registration for ALA and LSSIRT members is $100, for non-members $175. Onsite registration for ALA and LSSIRT members will be $125, for non-members $200.
