AASL seeks presenters for Licensed Institute on Reading

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is currently accepting proposals from presenters for its "Reading and the Elementary School Library Media Specialist" licensed institute

The institute was designed specifically to address critical topics in reading for K-6 school library media specialists. The institute engages school library media specialists in topics that impact student reading, including current research, reading strategies, current national legislation and essential reading lesson elements. Through this institute, school library media specialists will expand the knowledge, confidence and understanding vital to their role as instructional partners in developing reading fluency and meeting the needs of all their students.

The presenter will be responsible for presenting content developed and supplied by AASL to regions throughout the U.S. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base of the content topics outlined in the instructor and participant manual.
  • Ensuring content presented remains consistent with the instructor manual and participant materials.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and appearance while representing AASL at all licensed institutes.
  • Providing feedback to an AASL professional development manager concerning institute structure and design after each Licensed Institute.

The presenter's fee is $750 to $1,000 (contingent on qualifications and experience) per institute, plus travel, accommodation and a $50 per diem. Applicants must submit a letter of interest that includes travel availability, resume and three references pertinent to this type of presentation by 4:30 p.m. CDT on Aug. 18.
