CHICAGO – Careful readers of the
Booklist masthead page will notice a few staff changes in Books for Youth, changes that will result in further integration of the youth content in
Booklist with
Book Links, Booklist Online and the two popular e-newsletters REaD Alert and Quick Tips.

As previously announced, Stephanie Zvirin, formerly Books for Youth editor, resigned in July after 32 years with
Booklist to become an acquisitions editor for ALA Editions. Laura Tillotson,
Book Links editor, has since accepted a new position as Booklist Publications Books for Youth editorial director. “Although Laura remains
Book Links editor, as editorial director of all books for youth offerings, in print and online, she brings a new level of coordination to our coverage of children’s and young-adult books to all our publications,” said Bill Ott,
Booklist editor and publisher.

In other staff changes, Gillian Engberg, YA editor, has assumed a new role as managing editor, Books for Youth. In addition to her responsibilities with YA books, Gillian will also manage the production of the Books for Youth section of
Booklist.

After three years in the dual role of publishing assistant and Booklist Online contributing editor, Ian Chipman is now a Books for Youth associate editor.
Booklist readers will recognize Ian’s byline, as his reviews and features have been appearing in both the youth and adult sections since 2006.

Once Ian shattered the glass ceiling and became the first male Books for Youth editor, there was barely time to sweep up the shards before another man joined the staff. Daniel Kraus, previously associate editor at
American Libraries, is also now a Books for Youth associate editor. A former librarian, Dan brings a wealth of experience and talent to the magazine. His first novel for young adults, “The Monster Variations,” (Random House) will be published next summer, and he is the creator of a critically acclaimed series of videos (as well as videos for
American Libraries and the ALA).

Booklist Publications include the ALA’s 104-year-old acclaimed review magazine
Booklist as well as
Book Links magazine and Booklist Online. For more information, visit
